Mrs. Rosie King, Principal

After graduating from Mississippi State University, I taught fifth grade in Caledonia and Senatobia. I joined the Desoto County Schools family in 2003 at Chicksaw Elementary School in Olive Branch where I absolutely loved teaching third grade! I taught under wonderful administrators and alongside so many amazing teachers.  I left my beloved classroom to participate in the MS Sabbatical Leave Program where I acquired my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Delta State University.

Following Delta State, I had the honor of serving Desoto County as our district's first reading/language arts specialist at the central office.  My love for teaching and learning coupled with a passion for professional development made this position an ideal experience for me. I absolutely loved working with and learning from all of our teachers and administrators.

My hopes of being a building level administrator came to pass when I was given the opportunity to become the assistant principal at Horn Lake Elementary. This experience was especially sweet to me.  Some 25 years earlier, I had walked those same halls as a first grader.  It was also during my time at Horn Lake Elementary that I was surprised and humbled to be nationally recognized as a Milken Educator. My experiences have been varied and diverse affording me incredible experiences to prepare me take the helm as principal at Horn Lake Intermediate in 2015, where I spent three wonderful years learning and loving alongside a tremendous team of dedicated educators.

What a joy to be invited to return to Olive Branch community as the Principal at Olive Branch Intermediate. I hope that I give back to Olive Branch all that it gave to me as a teacher.  It is my joy to partner with our parents and our community as we seek to provide our students with the absolute best educational experience possible. Together we will create an environment where students feel safe to take academic risks and to try new things as they build strong relationships with teachers and classmates.

Our goal is to GROW every student as a reader, writer, mathematician, and scientific thinker all while becoming a productive participant in a strong and supportive school culture.  We believe your child is much more than a test score or a number on page. We seek to meet your child where he is and help him reach his full potential. We need parents as partners!

Speaking of parents, I am one of those, too! I'm momma to Silas and Piper King. Silas will be a fourth grader here at Olive Branch Intermediate for the 2019-2020 school year, while Piper Rose will be in Kindergarten at Olive Branch Elementary School. My husband, Jeffrey, and I are delighted for our family to be in Olive Branch.

Mrs. Erin McElyea, Asst. Principal

I am so excited to start my first year at Olive Branch Intermediate.  Before I became an administrator , I was a  U.S. History teacher at Horn Lake Middle (2001-2005) and Horn Lake High School (2005-2013).  I began my administration career in 2014 as an intern at Horn Lake Intermediate School.  I was hired that fall and served as assistant principal at HLIS for 5 years.

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Sociology.  I earned my master's degree in educational leadership at Arkansas State. I am married with a daughter, Aubrey.  When I am not at school I am either at the gym teaching classes or being a soccer mom.
